rosé for mother's day
The original reason for coming to Washington D.C. was to surprise my mom for Mother's Day...she had no idea I had even been in town the previous day! When we arrived at my parents house my mom was completely shocked to see me and my Dad knew I was coming so I was glad he didn't say anything about my surprise! After the shock wore off a little, we were so excited and ready to go to one of many wineries in Delaplane, Virginia called "Blue Valley Winery". It was the most gorgeous day and we definitely weren't the only family to think of a winery for Mother's Day, everywhere was packed. We managed to find a spot inside because it was pretty windy as you can see from the pictures, but the views were so beautiful. We ordered two types of wine including a Red Blend and Rosé. What you don't realize at most of the wineries in Virginia is that they import some of their grapes (or all), so if you look at the label on the Red Blend above, it doesn't say Virginia because technically the grapes aren't all from Virginia. We snacked on some cheese and crackers with our wine, the rosé was my favorite. After we talked, took pictures and enjoyed the winery we went back to my parent's house. As you can see from the picture above, there's Brody a black lab german shepherd mix that my parents recently adopted and Kassie, Chelsey's greyhound. It's not very often that I get to come home so it was a special surprise to see my family! We had a great day and I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day!
