We made it to the big apple! My boyfriend Derek, twin sister Chelsey and her boyfriend Jared planned our first trip to New York City this past weekend. Never having been before we planned the best we could but, with traveling these days you definitely have to be flexible! Our plane was pushed back a couple hours so when we arrived it was about 5pm, not including the wait at the airport for about an hour for an Uber. La Guardia airport was insanely packed. After talking to people we realized it was most likely because of the Tribeca Film Festival and the Met Gala coming up. When we arrived at our hotel Lexington Autograph in Midtown, we were impressed with how nice the lobby was and how friendly the front desk agents were, especially after the long day we had.

We had some cocktails at the hotel bar then headed to a restaurant close to our hotel called Rue 57, a Parisian Brasserie and Sushi bar. We first ordered a bottle of Rosé to split and as we were eyeing all the seafood options on the menu. This restaurant is pricey $$$ due to its upscale menu and location in Midtown Manhattan. After debating sushi, seafood and burgers I ended up ordering the "Mini Kobe Burgers", Derek and Jared each chose the "Rue 57 Skirt Steak", and Chelsey ordered "Le Chateau platter" with lobster, east and west coast oysters, mussels, clams, and shrimp. We had quite the variety of food, it was all so delicious I couldn't complain! I would absolutely recommend this place for a special occasion if you're in the mood for french brasserie & seafood.

From this restaurant we walked to an oyster bar down the street called "Red Eye Grill" for some drinks. We ordered a variety of cocktails and wine, pictured above. We realized we had just missed a pianist performing, so the crowd at the bar was dying down. We enjoyed the relaxing atmosphere which was a nice change of pace from the bustling streets of New York. It was an awesome first night in New York City!
